Jennings President to Moderate Panel on Connecting with Patients Online
CHAPEL HILL, NC – April 30, 2014 – Dan Dunlop, president and CEO of Jennings, the healthcare marketing and consumer engagement agency, will present at the New England Society for Healthcare Communications (NESHCo)’s Spring Conference. This year’s conference will be held in Groton, Connecticut from Wednesday, May 14 to Friday, May 16.
Dunlop will moderate the “Connected Patient Panel: Exploring the Role of Online Patient Support Communities, Twitter Chats and Patient Advocacy,” on Thursday, May 15 at 12 p.m. Dunlop will share the podium with panelists Laurie Edwards, lifelong patient and blogger, Amir Lewkowski, co-founder of Inspire.com, and Alicia Staley, three-time cancer survivor and ardent patient advocate. The panel will outline the importance of the patient’s voice, and how the participatory medicine movement has changed the prevailing relationship between patients and provides.
“Patients are increasingly turning to the Internet in an effort to tell their stories and connect with others,” said Dunlop. “It is essential that the medical community engages with them.”
